a question posed…

Just wanted to know your thoughts on this statement.

Agree or disagree???
The greatest adventure in life is not an exotic safari, a booming business success or a love relationship with that perfect someone.  Rather, it’s discovering the purpose for our lives.

I think it is a true statement, though maybe a little fanciful and idealistic.

For many the purpose of life lies in a booming business or a perfect love.  And when these things fail so do their purpose for life, hence all the suicides of business men after catastrophic failure and young kids after a devastating breakup.

The truth of the statement lies in the discovering… In my opinion it is in the journey/adventure that purpose is found, always through the lens of Christ, joining his Kingdom work here on earth.  Our purpose is simple, as Jesus says, “Let His kingdom come here on earth as it is in heaven,” and in the greatest commandment, “Love God and Love one another just as I have first loved you.”

The question then is this: Are you (in your journey/job/adventure/life) seeking to join in the work of the kingdom, or are you seeking to build your own castle?

One is firmly established on solid rock and the other is selfishly built upon dunes of shifting sand.  And that is my thoughts.

I think that finding purpose is the best fulfillment of life…true that. :)

I’m reading this book called “Explorers of the Infinite,” and one mountaineer/paragilder/adrelaline junky finally found a better purpose for her life in helping drug addicts through their withdrawls, she said it was the “aliveness of having a purpose.”

So though…building God’s Kingdom might be a noble cause–I believe that non-believers can also find purpose that is not building their own “castle”.

yeah, must purpose only be found through God?

And couldn’t life itself be the adventure?

In response to Shell and Jason. Mankind was made in the image of God; it is no surprise therefore that mankind has the capacity within for such extreme good. Yet, as you can see in the day to day, mankind also has another nature that can be extremely evil. Yes; unbelievers can find purpose and fulfillment in doing good works and yet not build their own castle. They are doing that for which God has created them, with their God given gifts and abilities. The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable! They are woven into the fabric of our being. Yet the difference between the unbeliever and the believer in employing these acts of compassion and good will is that the believer gives all the glory to God for giving the abilitiy and the means for fulfilling his/her purpose, and they serve God with them. Unbeleivers are only confident in their humanity and are not willing to acknowledge Who gave them the ability to do anything at all. Where do such acts of compassion come from; how can the conscience of man have the understanding that this or that is “good”? Not all the time, but many times if we only reach from within for that virtuous character without the love for the Lord God, we find we have a limit. When the spirit of man is made complete with belief in and the yielding to the Spirit of God, there is more capacity to go beyond our natural inclinations to the most sever needs.

The facts are this: we have a Creator who is Yahweh, the Sovereign LORD. He created us for the purpose of giving us enjoyment and Himself pleasure in seeing His creation grow up into a complete expression of His love. Whether you like it or not Shell and Jason, you find good in yourself because He is good and He alone formed that capacity within you. I’ll wager that each of you have just as passionately at one time or another given yourself over to activities hurtful to you and others whether in thought alone, or word or deed. This is why we have need of the Savior Jesus and the filling of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Inward change of the heart through such saving grace will enable us to choose good more often than not and fulfill the purpose of God in this life.
