Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, by Barack Obama. This book was read during my research into who I would be voting for in 2008… What I found was a coming age story for the postmodern politician, no matter your political stance, this book is incredibly engaging. Written after graduating from Law School by a young aspiring Barack Obama, he writes with transparency throughout – including his drug use as a teenager, his path of ideological maturation through growing up internationally, and all of his unsightly family history. I continue to recommend this book to those who want to begin to know President Obama’s perspective on politics and life.
