So. Today, I finally finished fixing my 1972 Honda CB500, which has been out of commission for a year! Two weeks ago @jt spent an evening rewiring the electrical problem (he is a genius – pics here) and after soliciting some advice from Tony Ferrando (who is in the adjacent office at LC.tv, and is a self diagnosed motorhead), I cleaned out my gunked out carburetors.
It was really a simple process: bought some carb cleaner, sprayed out and soaked the carb last night – allowing it to dry overnight, and then pieced it back together this evening. After which I washed the bike up, towel dried her down, and then drove her around town… daggum is she a beautiful machine! I just finished up a 30 min ride around Edmond, it would have been longer but an ominous storm is rolling in… blah. I’ll end tonite’s post with this quote from the Motorcycle Diaries, of which I have an affinity with.
What we had in common – our restlessness, our impassioned spirits, and a love for the open road. ~ Ernesto Ché Guevara
