myopic…

When was the last time you looked at your future? The last time you held up your dreams and desires, like a well-paid strategist, looking for pathways and ladders that lead to the actualization of your ambitions?

I’ve found that looking ahead as a futurist or a strategist never led me down the pathway I envisioned. In hindsight, my vision for the future was always rather myopic and shortsighted… Mainly because of unforeseen variables that changed the course of my life. It was like I was trying to paint the picture of my future using a color palette that was ever-changing. Allowing my present situation to cloud my destiny.

It is strange to think that the future that God has for us is blurry, as we cannot anticipate the unforeseen obstacles and course adjustments lie ahead. Because of this our life is like a ocean voyage… we plot ahead – ignorant to the stormy seas in our future, having to put our faith in the vessel that carries us, and in the captain that directs us.

So the question I have to ask is this:

Have you given your dreams to God, allowing him to stow them away for future use? Have you loosened your grip on personal desires, giving God complete control over the rudder of your life?

Myself? I fail at this daily… nonetheless I try to subdue my strategic mind, and continually reign in my futurist visions – so that God may have complete control of my life… not only this present day but also my planned out tomorrow.

What about you?
