My writing has two roots… experience and authority. Out of these my opinions have been formed and my perspective has been wrought. Because of this I am constantly on the look out for new experiences and am open to fresh authority… as both of these things enhance the breadth of my character. Life experience plays a huge role in broadening the tune of my story and those that are in authority over me continue to sharpen my instincts and breakdown my pride. I am thus a brokedown melody – constantly out of tune, nonetheless, striving to please my Father’s ear.

Some of the motivations for TentLife have sprung from the draw of adventure which I hope will spur originality in my writing… The funny thing about living in a tent for 5 months is that it does not create an atmosphere of comfort with which to write.

The only people who achieve much are those who want knowledge so badly that they seek it while the conditions are still unfavourable. Favourable condition never come. – C.S. Lewis

It is in this ‘unfavourable condition’ that I hope draw on the rawness of simplicity and lean on Christ for my dependency and not on a comfortable writing nook.
