I went to vote this morning at the county election board (the only place in Oklahoma County open for early voting)… and this is what I saw:
Unbelievable!! The demographic of the line was very diverse, though there were a lot more African Americans lined up to vote than any other race. It was a Obama fest as well, as many were standing in the median of the road waving Obama signs, playing drums, passing out water, et cetera… There was also a group of about 30 walking and chanting support for Obama! I wonder if the state will be closer than anticipated? Will Obama supporters take a strong stance in Oklahoma, could this predominantly red state become more purple to blue then ever before in its history…? I am really intrigued. I hope so. But reality is probably being skewed by my living in Oklahoma City and not seeing the rural vote and the staunch Republican supporters found in smaller communities (as bigger cities normally are more blue then red). Anyway, fun morning. I encourage all who are able, whether through early voting or Tuesday Vote Day, go cast your vote for Obama (or the other candidate).
